New comment system

By | November 22, 2013

In case anyone is paying attention, I have just converted the comment feature for posts on this blog over to the Disqus commenting system. Over the past couple of years, as I’ve been increasingly my level of participation in online discussions, I’ve been impressed with the facility with which the Disqus system manages comments and is able to provide support and feedback for them. It shouldn’t make any difference to anyone who is interested in submitting a comment on any post here; there’s no new kind of hoop to jump through. And it’s not as though I have a gigantic volume of comments anyway, although I certainly always appreciate any that I get and try to respond to them. I am, as you might imagine, a great believer in the value of dialogue. And I’m not not entirely above uttering occasionally provocative statements in the interests of dialogue, although I am not about to write a column on the busing of communists into our neighborhoods to kill puppies [a deliberately obscure literary allusion – let me know if you recognize it.]

At the same time, I’ve also switched to a new background image, featuring a new helmsperson. Although I was not a member of the group, I have always believed in the principle of Φιλοσοφία Βίου Κυβερνήτης. Please welcome our new avatar of Φιλοσοφία!

At any rate, I hope that I can continue to write interesting material from time to time, and that over time there will be an increasing volume of both attention and the dialogue. Hope springs eternal!
